ASB’s well-utilized campus grounds will be making space for a new building in the future, creating exciting opportunities for innovative learning environments centered around projects, creativity and the many activities that bring the school community and culture together. Autens was called in to provide consultancy in shaping the campus expansion.
Drawing on the key themes around Deeper Learning, Belonging and Community from the ASB strategic foundation, Autens identified design strategies and specific ideas for how the new building could unlock pedagogical potential and be much more than just an extra building on campus.
Building schools is not just about building space for specific functions. It’s about integrating the building into the school’s overall vision, enhancing its learning environment and identity, and serving as a catalyst for next-level practice. The design strategies for ASB aim to foster a stronger sense of connection linking the campus building in a learning landscape; they aim to enhance opportunities for learning, creativity and growth throughout the campus departments, and reinforce the school’s identity through thoughtfully designed spaces.
